THE JN NAIL CARE ROUTINE

June 21, 2020 2 Comments

It’s no secret that nail care is a huge part of a jeweller’s life. At JustNaadiyas, we’re no different. Having chosen to mainly promote our jewellery on Instagram, it was very important to Naadiya (Owner of JustNaadiyas) to have the most flawless looking nails in order to allow the jewellery showcased to pop out! After we received so many messages regarding nail colours, we thought we’d highlight some tips and tricks we follow into taking care of our perfect Instagram worthy nails.

Nail Care Routine

First up – Lockdown. Since the corona virus lockdown it has seen every beauty salon close, including my regular nail lady. Because of this, I have taken it on upon myself, to do my own.

GEL LAMP - 9 times out of 10 the polish you see on the nails on Instagram is gel colour. Meaning the polish will need to cure under a UV light. I picked up this Mylee Pro Salon Series LED Lamp. This was the one my beauty therapist used, so this was her suggestion. It’s super easy to use, has a timer and cures the nail polish within 60 seconds, so there’s no need to wait.

GEL Brands We Love -

BlueSky

OPI

CND

I personally always use these three brands. I feel like they are the right thickness for opaqueness. They never chip, never peel and the best part – They have the safest / easiest way of removing it. All you have to do is soak them in acetone and scrape it off.

GEL Colours We Love -

BlueSky:

Cake Pop

Bare Lingerie

Picnic Time

OPI:

Funny Bunny

Don’t bossa nova me around

CND:

Winter Glow

Naked Naviete

If we weren’t wearing gel polish, our favourite nail polish brand would be INGLOT. Inglot have various collections of nail polish, we would always opt for the O2M breathable collection.

Our favourite colours in the INGLOT O2M polishes are – 603,601,445,621 and 630.

The PERFECT Manicure

Be sure to keep on top of them cuticles. Every other week we recommend removing every trace of cuticle on the nail as possible. A perfect picture worthy nail is always one without cuticles. In order to maintain that ‘cuticle free’ look, ask your manicurist to use the nail polisher machine or a filer. You can always opt for a cuticle remover gel; we have the Sally Hansen Instant Cuticle Remover. Which FYI, works wonders.

The right shape – It’s so important for picture worthy nails to be filing and shaping the nail to a shape you think suits that particular nail best. Naadiya normally goes for a natural rounded shape for her nails. They have the best of both worlds; you’ll get a straight edge of the nail and rounded corners, giving you the most flattering look to your nail.

Keep them fresh - The Post Manicure Routine

Two things that save that ever-lasting fresh look.

1. Hand Cream

2. Nail Oil

Using hand cream is essential. We can’t emphasise enough the importance of hand cream. Keeping your hands moisturised will promote healthy looking skin aswell as prevent wrinkles and fine lines. Using hand cream will help your skin colour glow, which is always a plus for pictures. I would normally go for a gradual tan moisturising lotion to be able to maintain that skin glow – Bondi Sands Everyday Gradual Tanning Milk – is my go to. It hydrates and nourishes the skin aswell as adding an all natural glow. Plus, the smell is lovely!

Any nail oil will work wonders for them cuticles. It will help the nail fold to not look dull and stop the edges from getting dry and peely. The nail oil I would normally go for would be the CUTEX Hydrating Cuticle Oil. This one does the job perfectly.

Hope this helps. Love, Naadiya.
